dota addicts
i just made a friend got addicted to dota. i feel guilty. for awhile. now not anymore. haha. sorry chap! you've to bear with the addiction. it can be quite bad something. especially near exam or project deadlines.
now i know how it feels to fight a beginner. i was once there, not too long ago. and i got killed over and over. so today, i witnessed my friend got killed over and over too! while i was relaxing left and right, almost getting a GODLIKE. i missed it because my computer lagged! WHY!? why must my computer lag at the crucial moment. instead, i got slaughtered by the opponents fountain. oh yea, it was us vs. AI. because he gave up after fighting me once.
anyway, as usual, i haven't slept (again!). was having quite a bit of fun.

talking about fun, i just realised that there's discovery channel in NUScast. in fact, i only remembered that NUScast actually existed! NUScast is, btw, the place where you can actually get local channel (plus discovery and BBC world) streamed into your computer. it only works if you are on campus. i am on campus. so yeah.
so yesterday morning, i was watching discovery channel while getting addicted to it. so fun! there was a show on cougar. the show was on how the scientists tried to reconstruct couger using mechanical devices. then they tested the power of the bite of the cougar. the bite alone delivers 250 pounds of force. i'm not sure how much is it in Newton, but sounds like a lot. then they test it when the cougar is moving. they hang a soda can and made the mechanical cougar moves at quite a high speed (about 25% of the speed of the real cougar). the can just exploded as the cougar's teeth hit. then they did some extrapolation and found the momentum transferred to the cougar's prey is 14000 lbs m (if i didn't get the unit wrong).
anyway, they also simulated cougar vs. wolf fight. the cougar won hands down. wow. of course it's a 1v1 fight and not an individualistic cougar fighting a gank of team-dependent wolves.
then there was a show on aikido. quite fun but not so fun. the next one was on taekwondo! i was leaping in joy! that one is so totally fun man! i mean, that was it. so totally fun! completely! all the kicks: the front kicks, rotating kicks, side kicks, flip kick (where the person actually did a flip and hit a target about one meter above his head) and a lot more kicks! that was so fun! i couldn't believe i actually quitted taekwondo last time. shouldn't have. but anyway, the young guy who was mc-ing the whole show was good. he was at korea and went around to many different dojo and showed the audience the different things a person with taekwondo knowledge can do.
the funny thing, taekwondo actually has a predecessor. that predecessor (i forgot the name) was created due to a game. a game called CAPTEH!
wtf!
there were lots of breaking stuffs with some different kind of kicks. they just simply broke rooftop tiles, wooden tiles, bricks, etc. it's just wow! i wish i could do the same.

anyway, i haven't been giving attention to this blog lately. let me bring to you a spotlight.

hmm. i wonder who this is. searching for der ultimative verrat eh? i wonder whether it's lj or ai or some other people. wait. ai is in der ultimative verrat. but lj? is she in that item? wonder, wonder. hmm. anyhow, that was fun right? knowing who visisted this blog. it's been my pastime to observe the people who actually visit this blog. and it's scary! seriously, the visitors log is just so scary!
for example, there is this person who kept checking my blog every 10 minutes a few days ago. and not only for awhile, but for 3 hours straight. that person made twenty something visit. and the IP address. hmm. it's interesting to know which country that person is from. i kind of have my suspicion. but until i have further clues from my tracker, i shall not speculate too much.
ahh, and obviously, i noticed a few friends were also checking out my blog.
and there were a lot of views from the states too. presumably using the NEXT BLOG button, all too popular in blogger blogs. yet it's still fun to see. hmm.

moving on. you noticed my sudden crazed over books. you see. i just got an amazon gift voucher worth US$277. ZOMG! wth! that's like a lot!!! how could i be so fortunate? hmm. interesting. anyway, i'm getting a few important textbooks for next semester. and useful text for my Topcoder's SRMs too. so exciting!

i watched sky high. lame!! but fun to watch nevertheless. as long as you don't watch the show in the cinema. because if you did, that's such a waste of money. in fact, i haven't been watching any show in the cinema for quite sometime now. everything could be downloaded anyway. hehehe! for example, underworld evolution. i just watched a dvd-quality underworld evolution recently. right now, i'm downloading Not Another Teen Movie, RENT, Being John Malkovich and The Sweetest Thing right now. i also had Frequency, slam's favourite show. he had been asking my to download that since half a year ago. but Frequency is an old show, so only my great luck got myself a suitable torrent a few weeks ago. shall watch it when slam's free.
talking about The Sweetest Thing, i just watched the show in channel 5 just now. omg. that was fuckin' funny! seriously, i was laughing and laughing throughout. i mean, not many movies actually stood up to the phrase "romantic comedy". but this one did. and amazingly, it's not just some cliche romantic comedy. well, it's actually cliche. but it was definitely a refreshing comedy. thanks again to NUScast for bringing it right to my room (literally).

i should learn java more. java is starting to get fun right now. a little bit too late. but not that bad after all.
ahhh. talking about computing. i'm seriously addicted to SoC forum. been checking out the forum so many times recently (especially after exam) i couldn't keep track anymore. wth. i'm really turning into a real geek.
ah, geek. that's my cue to start talking about my two new favourite comic strips.
GPF!!! or General Protection Fault. you don't get that many good geeky comics. and this one is one definite must-read if you liked geeky comic strips. the strips talked about this company called GPF, headed by Dwayne and consisting of 4 of his employers. three are geeks: nick and ki, who are now a couple, and fooker, who has a slime mold that can talk and is actually an online college professor. i mean wth! another one is this evil girl who like to sadistically torture the rest. you should try to read it when you are free.
the second comic strip is PHD, or Piled Higher & Deeper. now this story revolves around PhD students (duh!), or the way they like to call them, grad students (yea, they are the same thing i know). the story tells about a few grad students who seem never to graduate. slackernerny has been a grad student for 7 years. cecilia, too, has been a grad student for quite some time now (about five years i think). and yet, they had not seen even the slightest light of graduation. and their advisors are just mad. oh, the story took place at stanford university, since the writer is a current stanford grad student (i don't know whether the person is still a grad student there though). read this one too! it's fun to read.
---
well, allright, i shall continue reading those comics. meanwhile, enjoy your day. about an hour from now, i'll be eating breakfast, then i'll pawn myself to sleep!
ciao.
