snail trail

i just learned something today from doing SRM practice questions. i learned the fact that human could actually understand sms where all the "trapped" vowels are removed. "trapped" vowels are those vowels in a word that is delimited by at least one consonant anywhere on its left and another one anyone on its right. some example:

tomorrow - tmrrw
meet - mt
hello - hllo
trainee - trnee
etc. etc.

well, obviously they have to be part of a coherent message. i doubt that we can recognise these things given just a word. wow, this goddamn sms age is already far in front of me.

eh, what song is this? so cool! wait, wait! i never heard this song before

. . .

barenaked ladies' another postcard? wth? i never heard before! geez, this song quite cute. the standard barenaked ladies' kind of cuteness. you know the "pinch me" or "testing 1,2,3" kind. heh. allright, good thing to listen to this song just before i'm leaving my computer for dinner. lucky i decided to blog a bit just now. otherwise i'd have missed this song.

Another Postcard
Barenaked Ladies

You can't imagine so many monkeys in the daily mail
All of them coming anonymously so they leave no trail
I never thought I'd have an admirer from overseas
But someone is sending me stationary filled with chimpanzees.

Some chimps in swimsuits, some chimps are swinging from a vine
Some chimps in jackboots, some chimps that wish they could be mine.
Starsky and Hutch chimps, a chimp who's sitting on the can
A pair of Dutch chimps who send their love from Amsterdam.

[CHORUS (x2):]
Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me.

If I had to guess, I'd say the monkey-sender thinks it's great
He's sending me, maybe she's sending me just to see me get irate
I'm losing sleep - and it's gonna be keeping me up all night
I thought it was funny, but now I've got money on a monkey fight.

Some chimps in hard hats, chimps a-working on a chain gang
Some chimps who love cats, burning rubber in a Mustang
A birthday-wishing chimp, a chimp in black like a goth
A goin' fishin' chimp, a British chimp in the bath.

[CHORUS (x2)]

Somehow they followed me even though I packed and moved my home
No matter what, they come and they come they won't leave me alone
Another monkey in the mail could make me lose my mind
But look at me shuffling through the stack until I finally find

Some chimps in swimsuits
Some chimps in Jackboots
Some chimps in hard hats
Some chimps who love cats
I've got some shaved chimps; that's chimps devoid of any hair
I've got depraved chimps dressed up in women's underwear.

Another postcard with chimpanzees
And every one is addressed to me.
Every one is, every one is, every one is addressed to me.
Every one is, every one is, every one is addressed to me.

[CHORUS (x4)]

Some chimps in swimsuits, Some chimps in Jackboots
Some chimps in hard hats, Some chimps who love cats
I've got some shaved chimps; that's chimps devoid of any hair
I've got depraved chimps dressed up in women's underwear.
Starsky and Hutch chimps, a chimp who's sitting on the can
A pair of Dutch chimps who send their love from Amsterdam.
Some chimps in Mustangs, Some chimps in chain gangs
I got a birthday wishin' chimp and I got the goin' fishin' chimp

so damn funny lar the lyrics. so suit my mood. oh and yea! did i tell you that i used to like barenaked ladies a lot? i mean, i used to love five of their songs, one of the highest count ever for a single artist/group. well, this is an additional one after the latest one (Maybe Katie) a few days ago. somehow, the past few days have been filled with barenaked ladies. coolness!

anyhow, yesterday i wanted to post something, but i couldn't. somehow, i couldn't edit my previous few posts. it kept saying that my blog couldn't be found. but i could post a new post. i posted one testing post yesterday. i could delete, but i couldn't edit. hmm. anyway here goes, blockquoted (i saved it to my notepad yesterday).

argh, i have scheme withdrawal, about a semester too late! aih, i love scheme! why? why must this semester be filled with Java (although Java prewritten classes are damn helpful). let's see whether i can write the simplest program, generating n!.

(define (factorial n)
(if (= n 0)
1
(* n (factorial (- n 1))))

sigh. love it! missed it!

hmm, yea. scheme. been quite sometime. all my fun last semester rooted from this programming language. while most of us schemers were having fun, we also had quite a good laugh at those C and Java people. only to get laughed about this semester as we started learning Java, one semester later than most other SoC students (and much less in depth, basically learn-it-yourself-or-fail kind of thing).

hey, don't tell me i'm weird since i can love programming language (i use to be a C master--well, masterful enough for a secondary school/jc student). i already know that! i am weird. but i don't qualify as a geek, sadly. hmm. i should be more studious and program more often instead of playing around with my CCAs. anyhow. i seriously like programming, could spend hours doing one without realizing it. maybe i should take competitive programming module next semester, though that's another level 3000 module. i'm scared lar!
---

all right, i guess i'm going for dinner. shall continue later. i don't dare to edit post already right now. so i'll keep this unposted for awhile. i'll post it later.

anyway, i'm so happy now! hahaha! why? don't tell you! but i'm freakin' happy. maybe because there's only one paper left. or maybe because i'm hungry and dinner is just around the corner? whatever it is that makes me happy, thank you thing! ;)
---

that was so sad. i just stepped on a snail for the first time in my life. sigh. my first snail kill. a few days ago, i nearly atep on one too! but i managed to catch myself off the snail trail.

i should be studying now. my friday's exam is not as easy as the rest. yes. it's even tougher than my cs1104 exam. sheesh.

two more days to go.
