hey ya!
today = bad day.
well, that's not new anymore, isn't it? haha! it's not bad actually. woke up early in the morning refreshed, thinking that i'm ready for anything now. went for my first class at 10am. accidentally met zhenyi and talked a whole lot of things on studies in the bus. she's a european studies major (and usp) and she was complaining about history. hmm. yeah, history really involves a lot of reading. but you can do it! (: look at this slacker. i've been slacking around quite a bit and i still managed (although barely). you've worked a lot harder than me. look at your writing man! you managed to get such a good comment. my writing class last year was terrible. i got B, B and B and of course B for the overall grade. but i love my prof, johan gertseema. i think her prof is not bad too, don favareau. both classes are quite fun i guess. i'm sure you'll manage. plus, you are not a die-hard hall girl, so yeah, you will manage!
moving on, i arrived in my first class late. but it was okay, since today we had this chinese muslim calligrapher visiting the class. he did quite a bit of arabic and chinese calligraphy for us. it's quite exciting. christina was our translator for the day, with kent helping also. he actually wrote our faculty name in chinese and in arabic. it's so cool! oh, and at the rear, some people were having theological debate between christianity and muslim (as always the case, i guess). one argument was that christianity and muslim are totally different, therefore they fight. out of all arguments, i think that's the stupidest. i mean, come on, are you that naive to say that they fight because of that? yeah, right. no, actually, the teaching of the two are very similar in terms of addressing moral and day-to-day issues (divorce, taxes, etc). even the events in the Bible and the Quran are basically similar (including Jesus). the major difference is actually the fact that christianity acknowledges God as a trinity of God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit. Islam does not explicitly reject this, but implicitly does so by saying that Jesus is just a prophet, like Mohammad, and that the Jews were taking his teachings wrongly and Islam is there to fix this misconception. Well, whatever it is, it's really not the source of fighting. in fact, muslim and jewish and christians live happily side by side in the middle east of early second millennium. the problem began with crusade, the single worse act of humanity in christian history. it's amazing how the condition then was a complete reverse of now. the Pope then pointed finger at the muslims, indicting them as infidels and there went all the europeans' poors in search for lands and riches, and knights in search of fame flooding the middle east, taking over jerusalem by force, killing muslims, jews and christians alike (who lived in jerusalem then).
look at it now. the muslim fundamentals were led by a figure who pointed finger at christians, accusing them as infidels. and there goes the fundamentals running amok with bombs and planes. all of these distil down to one point, taking the teachings of both religions in a wrong manner, interpreting the holy books out of context, etc. Isn't there a phrase in the Bible that says that you should love your enemy? (i'm not sure about the Quran's equivalent, having never read the book in the first place.)
sigh.
anyway, why was i rambling about that just now? hmm. no idea. anyway, i have 3 minutes to wrap up before going out again. damnit, so busy nowadays. early this morning, my friend messaged me that i'm supposed to go do things today, right about 10 minutes from now. my plan of sleeping after class is screwed again.
ah, i had a little debate with my prof during my 2-4pm class. the debate turns sour as usual. so i guess i just found myself another prof with views against mine. it's on a simple things like 'no food and drinks' sign. wow. anyway, it was fun, with exception of the stupid remarks i made at the end. i guess i must have been very bored then.
aih. i have a slight headache now. damn! i hope i'll be fine later. i've to sleep early later. remind me again later.
see ya!
